relating to religious developments in the Indies, and primarily to internal history of the monastic orders in New Spain, Peru and the Philippines, as effected by conflicts with ecclesiastical and civil authority. Typed table of contents for each can be found in the individual volumes. Individual leaves have been numbered. concerns the disputed election of Fray Alejandro Casquero as the provincial of the Franciscan Province of San José in Yucatán; the distribution of offices between Creoles and native Spaniards in religious orders; and verses by José Antonio de Alfaro y Ochoa, protesting his arrest. deals primarily with jurisdictional questions. Nos. 2 and 12 are substantially identical with the defense in the criminal case against Fray Jacinto Miranda (cf. M-M 26).
